Our Wooden Spoons are handmade in Senegal from a special kind of wood called "Ndialabane" in Wolof. This wood has cultural and spiritual significance in Senegal, particularly in the Baye Fall tradition.
The wood is used to make prayer beads, necklaces, and other objects that can be worn. When worn, the wood is believed to protect against the evil eye and tongue.
The wood is believed to have been carved and used to construct the throne of some Kings in Senegal.
"Nuulayu bois d'ébène" (dark like ebony wood) is a complement used for people with beautiful dark skin. When carved, Ndialabane has a shiny dark center.
Includes one wooden spoon.
